Latest 'The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn' Casting News

This week has proven itself to be pretty major when it comes to casting information for The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 1 and The Twilight Saga: Breaking Dawn - Part 2 since not one, but two new parcels of casting news came out. Prior to those, there was at least one other announcement and a few rumors to boot, so here's a run-through of the names that have been floating around and what information is known and unknown about casting them.

Mackenzie Foy, "Renesmee": Entertainment Weekly announced Tuesday that Mackenzie Foy was "inches away" from becoming "Renesmee." That, of course, does not mean the ink is dry, so until that information is confirmed, it's still what would probably be called "premature." Since the news, though, fansites have been on the prowl to try and uncover tape of Foy in action, and given her limited resume, the finds are pretty impressive. For instance, one has found a clip of her in a Burger King commercial, and another has a piece of her appearance on Til Death. Since there is no confirmation as to whether and how Foy will portray the character, it's still not a definite cast just yet. There have been a couple of other names associated with the role over the last few weeks: Kayla D., whose management took to Facebook about her audition, and Ryan Robbins' daughter, whose father took to Twitter about the same.

Maggie Grace, "Irina": Also on Tuesday was the announcement that Maggie Grace would become "Irina," one of the "Denali" sisters who inadvertantly starts the showdown between the "Cullens" and the "Volturi." The announcement came from Gossip Cop. Given the source, and the lack of any refuting claims, it's probably confirmed even though there has been no formal announcement from the studio.

Rami Malek, "Benjamin": The news of his casting in Breaking Dawn came from his own mouth, when he revealed to Entertainment Tonight that he was "thrilled" about the coming work. Soon after he made the announcement, he seems to have deleted his Twitter page. At last count, his followers had more than quadrupled in number that night.

Other than these three, and most of the cast from Twilight, The Twilight Saga: New Moon, and The Twilight Saga: Eclipse, there have been no other firm announcements.

Presumably, the "Volturi" cast will be back for at least the second of the films. Also, at least one "Wolf Pack"-er, Bronson Pelletier, has revealed the deal has been done for him, and both Michael Welch and Justin Chon have Twittered about their return to the film.

Still, there are a great many important parts yet to be announced. A casual poll of Twilight fans on Twitter yesterday revealed that among those whose announcements have yet to come, some are most excited about seeing the choice of actors for "Nahuel," "Garrett," "Tanya," "Zafrina," and "Kate." At the Eclipse premiere, producer Wyck Godfrey himself revealed that he thought the character "Nahuel" was very important to get right. For a spell, Drew Roy's name was listed on the IMDb site for the character, but - as is expectable with that site, at times - it has since been changed. The character "Garrett" was also the subject of a casting rumor, but it was later discovered that Pace had not been approached for the role, per his management.

Lastly, Guri Weinberg has lingered on the IMDb.com (for "Stefan") page for a few weeks now - for what it's worth - even past the Drew Roy removal.
